I look through this site periodically and always find something new. I haven't been here in a while and wondered where the "how to speak Cliffside" section went. My mom's family is from Ellenboro and that section always made me remember some of the great sayings and colloquialisms of the area. We were somewhere the other day and someone said, "it's coming up a cloud" meaning we were going to get a thunderstorm. My grandmother use to say that and it gave me one of those good feelings you get when you remember your family and the good times. Keep up the great work.

Hi Reno,
As many others have stated, I really love the work you do with the web site. It is truly a work of art.
I do have some unfortunate news to offer. I live near downtown Cliffside on a site that has many old rock walls and culverts built along an old road bed. Recently, someone trespassed onto my land and removed a large old stone from one of these walls. The thief didn't take a rock from one of the ends of the wall; rather they took it out of the worst possible spot, the middle. Probably because it was the largest rock in that wall. To make matters worse, there is a tree growing behind that portion of the wall that may now push it down.
Why someone would want that specific stone I have no a clue. It would not have been easy to steal. If they would have approached me, I would have suggested taking one that didn't destroy the entire wall. I love the history of Cliffside and have preserved the old walls on my land. I just wish the person who stole that stone respected the history behind it as much as I do.
Thanks again for your efforts on this fine web site!
