Great website. I enjoyed the articles about Cliffside RR. I've loaded a many load of coal into the coal hopper of that train. I lived in Henrietta and worked for Phillips & Lawing Fuel Co. back in the mid 1950's.
Cliffside RR bought just about all the slack coal from us back then. I also unloaded boxcars of coal delivered to our coal yard by Cliffside RR. The coal yard was located just off of US 221-A near Henrietta on six points road just before High Shoals Church. Back in the day we had to manually load and unload the coal on to a truck for delivery. That had to be the hardest and dirtiest job I have ever had. I was very young back then, and the hard work didn't seem to bother me too bad. At least it was a job.
