I was in the process of gathering info. about my mother's side of the family and came across a copy of
Remembering Cliffside that someone had sent her and had saved for future references. This is a wonderful website. Although I was born in Gaffney, SC I often
visited the area with my parents, aunts and grandmother. I remember my grandmother would remark
as soon as we crossed the N. C. line that the air smelled better. As a child, I thought that was so funny. My grandmother was Della Malinda Jenkins Lemmons (Ben Lemmons) and she was born 1/27/1876 She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Ann Petty Jenkins.
I have a list of her brothers and sisters, but I'm having trouble finding all of the children's names of
Charles Henry and Laura Ann Jolley Jenkins. I know
there were 10, however the only names I have uncovered
are Dewitt (Snuffy) and Verl. In visiting the areas I also remember Oren and Snuffy's nephew Hoke. Could
anyone help me. Ben Humphries had sent my mother some
info. years ago, but after her death was misplaced.
My family and I attended several Snuffy Jenkins
Festivals where I met his wife and cannot remember her name or their son's name. Keep up the great work.

I was wondering if you had anything on the history of Dobbinsville??? My sister and I are trying to trace our family tree and we have hit a rough spot!! I had been told that there were four german brothers that came during the homestead spelling i am not sure of nor it that is even it! they bought 160 acres of land and split it between them. they each got 40 acres. well where they bought the land is dobbinsville and i would really like to know the names of the men that would help me out a lot!! I have gotton back to my grt. grt. grt. grt. Great grandfather who was William Dobbins Sr. born on 2-17-1740 and passed away on 09-23-1814 he was married to Susannah Collins! Please email me with any info! Thanks sooo much!

I suppose the reason the guys have their ties tucked in their shirts in April's pic of the month is because they didn't want to get them caught in the lathes. Same reason spinning room supervisors always wore clip-ons back in the day. Heard of one boss at Caroleen (Burlington) that got his "tie-on" tie caught in a spinning frame. Bout killed him.
Good to see Robert Waters included in the pic. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Santee-Cooper with my cousin Hugh Blanton as well as Robert Bryson. Hugh died some years ago at Lake James after jumping in the water to save his grandson who had fallen off the boat.
Any of you old lintheads that I knew from Cone, shoot me an email sometime.
